Job Purpose

General accounting including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers and account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings and account analysis and supporting the Chief Finance Officer in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance department.

Essential Responsibilities and deliverables

  • Payment of all statutory taxes and duties in time e.g. VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, Provisional Tax, NHIMA, NAPSA and any other W/Holding Tax.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet schedules and ensure that they are presented for monthly sign off and that all clearing entries are actioned.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledger and journals, accruals, examine completeness of financial transactions and charge to the correct department.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Preparing invoices and timely dispatch to clients.
  • Timely and accurate booking of transactions in Symphony (JDE). Capture all bank transactions ( receipts and payments) on a daily basis for real time reporting.
  • Preparation of all payment vouchers.
  • Ensuring all supplier invoices received are supported by proper documentations.
  • Ensuring all invoices raised to customers are supported by proper documentations.
  • Custodian and disbursement of all supplier payments.
  • Timely filling of office documents.
  • Assist the team with management of debtors to ensure timely follow up on all outstanding debt and send reconciled statements to clients.
  • To ensure that Creditors balances are constantly reconciled and that payments are made as per the company creditor’s ledger and not as per the creditor’s statements.  Any differences must be reconciled before any payments are made.
  • Ensure that all disbursements for field work are recorded and reconciled daily.
  • Ensure accountabilities for project funds are retired within company policy stipulated time.
  • To perform other duties as may be prescribed by management from time to time.
  • Posting of all suppliers, client invoices into the system.
  • Posting of all payment voucher into the system.

General

  • Maintaining a neat working environment.

  • Attends meetings when required.
  • Adheres to the budgeted project timing.
  • Maintains documents and records as required by the company.
  • Client confidentiality is to be adhered to by all members of the team.
  • Ensure that all members of the team follow procedures for handling company funds and that all funds are accounted for.
  • Ensure quality of all work and deliverables.
  • Performs any other tasks which are reasonable.

Qualifications (Minimum level necessary to perform the job)

  • Degree/Diploma in Accountancy/CA
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Qualification /membership: ZICA or ACCA
  • Comprehensive financial management knowledge.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines & manage expectations.
  • Willingness to work long hours.
